FEATS 2019

  • Entity Theatre e.V. Wolf-Ferrari-Haus, Rathausplatz 2 85521 Ottobrunn Germany (map)

InPlayers is proud to announce that we have been accepted to take part in the Fringe for the 2019 Festival of European Anglophone Theatrical Societies - FEATS.

Inplayers will present three one-acts: The Role of Della, Lookin’ for a Better Berry Bush and Workout on May 31 at the FEATS Fringe in Ottobrunn, Germany (close to Munich).

The Role of Della by the American playwright John J. Wooten and was written in 2002. A young eager actress has her eye set on the role of Della but can she convince a cold and ambivalent director that she is right for the part? This is a comical piece about strong women who stand their ground and assert themselves when the situation calls for it.

Emma Winns …………………….Sara Watts

Elizabeth Ryan ………………….Linda Sjöström

Ms. Stewart ……………………….Elizabeth Whelan

Directed by Frieda Jacobowitz, creative consultant: Jonathan Geenen

Lookin’ for A Better Berry Bush by the American playwright Jean Lenox Toddie, who died in 2011 at the age of 85. This one-act shows us what a meeting between a homeless woman and a retired waitress might look like. Their different backgrounds and values clash and complement each other in ways that neither of them could have expected. This piece reminds us of how we may feel when we walk past a homeless person and what we may correctly or incorrectly assume their situation is.

Emma ……………………………….Frieda Jacobowitz

Addie …………………………..….. Maruska Konopkova

Directed by Jonathan Geenen, assistant director: Cathrine Andresen

Workout by the American playwright Wendy Wasserstein, who died at the age of 55 in 2006. This is a short one-act but still packs a punch. What Denise tells us about her life, feelings, accomplishments and activities is as overwhelming for the audience as it is for her. How much it reflects the many pressures that women must endure in modern society will be for each audience member to decide. Wendy Wasserstein’s play The Heidi Chronicles, written in 1989, won a Tony Award as well as the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

Denise ……………………………..Chava Ramspek

Directed by Jonathan Geenen, assistant director: Frieda Jacobowitz
