We welcome all levels of experience and recognise the value in shared knowledge. This is a nurturing environment from which we all benefit. Backup and training is provided where possible, and new ideas and innovations are very much encouraged.
The InPlayers is an amateur group, in that we do this because we love it!
We are Amsterdam's oldest English-language theatre group. We are a passionate group of individuals from all over the world- a melting pot of creative minds. We always welcome people who'd like to join us in any capacity, whether it's directing, acting, behind-the-scenes help, writing or just to join our activities. The group is run by volunteers and we're always open to new ideas. All our activities are in English, so our only requirement is that you can communicate in English.
We explore as many aspects of theatre as we can, from full staged productions of plays and musicals, to staged readings, cold readings and workshops. Any member may propose a production, workshop, reading, etc to the committee, and we'll do our best to work it into the schedule and support the process.
We aim for three productions a year, a play reading once a month, regular acting workshops for skill-building and other events scattered in between, including Musical Weekend Workshops. We also try to take a production to the annual FEATS Festival (www.feats.eu), on the main stage, at the fringe or both. You can get an overview of these events on our website.
If you’d like to become a member, you’ll need to pay a membership fee (September to August), with discounts for Early Birds, CJP pass holders and students. You don't have to decide right away though - come to one of our events and meet us first, if you like.
Membership fees represent an important part of the revenue on which we depend to fund our activities. A successful production can sometimes pay for itself - may even show a profit - but even a profitable production has up-front costs: performing rights, costumes, sets, props, rehearsal space, theatre rental. Many of our other activities, such as workshops and play readings, do not pay for themselves. To continue offering these activities we need our membership fees as well as any profits our productions might make.
Membership fee is €110 per season (September 2018 to August 2019) with the following discounts:
Early bird discount (through September 30, 2018) : €100
