Play Summary
An Enemy of the People is a political comedy by Henrik Ibsen. This modern adaptation of the Ibsen classic reveals how political views and family feuds can get to the point of absurdity. Dr. Miranda Stockman, an egotistical scientist, discovers that the water supply that fills her town’s spa, the town’s economic stronghold, is poisoned. She suggests that the baths be shut down immediately. Patricia Stockman, the scientist's sister and Mayor, believes shutting the baths would bring the town's economy crashing down and refuses to believe the danger is immediate. The Mayor starts a campaign to turn the town against her sister. Then there's the press, which side will they take? Is this a real political issue or just a sibling rivalry gone out of control?
