Adam grew up in Stratford-upon-Avon, the home of Shakespeare, so it’s no surprise that his passion for theatre started from a young age. Since moving to the Netherlands, Adam has mostly acted with the Leiden English Theatre and Bird Brain Theatre, in productions including The Seagull, The Trial, and The Picture of Dorian Gray.
Earlier this year, Adam made his InPlayers debut in the Fresh Ink production, Time Will Tattle, which included a few other Cuckoo’s Nest cast members. He’s thrilled to be performing in his first full-length InPlayers production, and to collaborate with this huge(ly) talented group of actors – both new and familiar.
Alex has always been interested in acting and performing – many even say that he is constantly performing (and at times wish he would please, stop!). Alex started acting in secondary school as part of Footloose. Although he secured only a small part, he did get to fake-ride a real motorcycle off the stage as part of the background action during the song, I Need a Hero. That same year, he played the lead role in Black Comedy, which gave him a chance to show off his Hugh Grant-like British accent. Since moving to Amsterdam in 2019, Alex has acted in, and written, a few short plays (even one in Dutch!), while also enjoying the thrills of performing improv comedy. He’s excited to be part of his first full-length InPlayers production, and gives many thanks to his wife, Marta, for all her support!
Babette is an actress and director with German-Philippine-Austrian roots, with a background spanning scripted theatre and improvisation. She has more than 10 years of experience in improvisation and has increasingly focused on scripted acting. She’s performed in several short play productions for (un)scripted Theatre’s Four-Play series, and is an active member of multiple improvisational theatre ensembles, including Cliffs of Dover, Flock Rangers and Nocturnal. She’s excited to bring a new facette to Nurse Flinn that’s a bit more cheeky.
Babette’s artistic talents go well-beyond acting; she also paints, teaches workshops, and directs an improvised sing-along jukebox musical – all while remaining a dedicated servant of her cat.
Cheryl is thrilled to be back on stage with the InPlayers. Recent roles include the powerful Tybalt in Romeo and Juliet, the ever-so sexy Sheila in A Chorus Line, and the delightfully stoic Lady Enderby in Murder in the Studio. Candy is an enjoyable acting challenge and Cheryl’s bringing the biggest heart, plenty of comic energy, and hopefully just the right amount of trouble.
When she’s not acting or dancing, Cheryl is a theatre and corporate event photographer @cherylhart_photography. And if there’s an open-mic jazz night nearby, she’ll probably be there, microphone in hand.
Delphine is a French national who relocated to Amsterdam in 2017 and brought with her a passion for music and the performing arts that’s always been a part of her identity. She was involved in a variety of drama schools and participated in the creation, production, and performance of devised original pieces.
She has participated in the InPlayers community as a committee member, actor, assistant director, and stage manager. Delphine’s performances include leading roles in French and English, and she’s also acted for the camera in various amateur feature films and commercials.
Being an actor was something Elizabeth had always imagined at a young age, but her dreams took a backseat while she navigated through life like a normie. Once she made it to Amsterdam, however, she kick-started her journey by training and developing her skills. Now she's making strides to pursue her passions: acting, co-founding and producing plays in and around Amsterdam’s independent theatre scene. Over the years, she’s honed her passion for storytelling and continues to practice art in its many forms, all of which contribute to the many lives she lives on stage.
Freek joined the InPlayers in 2014, when he fell straight into the role of Danny in Grease (the Musical Workshop). He’s since enjoyed roles in comedies, dramas and musicals, from The Rocky Horror Picture Show to Buried Child and Mamma Mia! to Mother Courage and Her Children. Through the years he has been a member of the InPlayers committee but always fueled his passion for acting, performing with Downstage Left and in some films, where he has mostly been typecast as a Mafia boss or Dutch cop, for reasons that remain a mystery to him.
He is Dutch through and through, having moved to Amsterdam from Maastricht when he was 22. Although he now works in corporate logistics management after his library and gardening studies, the best years of his life were as road manager for two big Dutch bands. The rest is history!
Making his theatrical debut, Jeremy came to the Netherlands from Toronto, Canada in June of 2025 and, like McMurphy, he’s bold, calculated, and bursting with energy, eager to make some new buddies. In Toronto, he trained at McGeachie Actor’s Practice – formerly an Anthony Meindl studio – where unconventional methods for on-camera scene work made him adaptable to unfamiliar situations. When asked if he’s comfortable taking the lead role for his first time on stage he answered in true Canadian fashion: Friggin’ eh!
Off stage, Jeremy freelances as an advertising account management leader and is responsible for Coca-Cola’s Echt? Echt! campaign that’s currently running nationally.
Jeremy is from Derbyshire UK and arrived in the Netherlands by way of Vienna, where he was active in English-language theatre and poetry. His first InPlayers role was in Alan Ayckbourn’s 1998 production of Confusions. After a very long break to raise a family he returned to the stage and has since appeared as a Marxist French taxi driver, a poetic Welsh narrator, a comic duke dealing with witches and fools, a Brechtian waiter and a variety of minor characters in Murder in the Studio. Apart from acting Jeremy writes poetry, short plays and unfinished novels.
Meriel has been with the InPlayers for nigh on 15 years both on-stage and off as a member of the committee. With earlier roles in shows such as Return to the Forbidden Planet, Noel Coward’s Still Life, A Clockwork Orange and An Enemy of the People, she ended a long hiatus with a role in Noir Suspicions and now as Dr Spivey. Hailing from the UK, she is officially a Dutchie after 24 years here and a recently acquired Dutch passport!
Nathan is excited to make his InPlayers debut with this lovely group of mostly sane people! Recently you may have seen him playing with puppets as Brian in Avenue Q with Happily Ever After Productions, or acting like a kid as Barfee in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee with The Cauldron. Some of his favourite and varied roles from his years on stage include Hines (Pajama Game), Oscar (Sweet Charity). Czolgosz (Assassins), Jim/Tom (Clybourne Park) and Jesus (Godspell).
Despite being of Spanish/Scottish mix, Patrick cut his teeth in the Austrian theatre scene whilst attending high school there. Having the chance to shadow established classical theatre actors in productions from Shakespeare, Molière and Nestroy sparked a love for the stage that he then brought with him to Amsterdam. Since living in the Netherlands, he has performed in recent shows such as ROPE, Wyrd Sisters and The Crucible, and is thrilled at the opportunity to play B-B-Billy Bibbit.
Originally from the US, Ryan has lived in Amsterdam for the past 8 years. He developed his initial passion for theatre throughout high school taking on roles in productions such as Robin Hood, as the title lead, and Gobbo in Shakespeare’s Merchant of Venice. He recently returned to the stage for the first time in 20 years for two BegInPlayers Fresh Ink productions – Sunday Morning and Time Will Tattle.
Sherilyn has been expressing her love for performance for over 20 years, through involvement in both amateur and professional productions all over the world. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts from Texas Tech University, and has been involved with the InPlayers since arriving in the Netherlands. Some of her most notable roles have included Emily in Our Town, Dorothy (understudy) in The Wizard of Oz, Lucinda in Into the Woods, and Judge Koch in Noir Suspicions. She also recently directed Butter in a Lordly Dish as part of the InPlayers production of Murder in the Studio. She wishes to extend her gratitude to her wonderfully supportive friends and family, and especially her partner, Steve.
Sue hails originally from Ireland where there was no shortage of inspiration and encouragement for her first steps on stage. She’s been hooked ever since and feels lucky to have performed in many a production in Ireland, the Netherlands and Belgium, mainly in English and sometimes in Dutch. Over the years, besides being on the InPlayers committee for several seasons, she’s enjoyed portraying a broad range of characters in a variety of genres, from thrillers to drama to comedy to more serious stuff: among others by Shaw, Brecht, Levin, Churchill, Shakespeare (as Hamlet) and as Peter in Albee’s The Zoo Story.
She’s Meisner-trained (at Meisner Studio Amsterdam), is currently training in Lucid Body (with Lucid Body London, training is held in London and Amsterdam), she LOVES physical theatre and crossdressing and is really looking forward to portraying Scanlon.
About the Writer
Dale Wasserman (1914-2008) wrote for theater, television and film for more than 50 years and is best known for the musical Man of La Mancha, a multiple Tony Award winner.
He also wrote the stage play One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, based on Ken Kesey’s novel, which has won several Tony Awards. Both shows continue to be produced nationally and internationally with an estimated 300 productions a year.
In January 1979, Dale met Martha Nelly Garza, who became his wife, loyal partner and loving companion. More than once, Dale commented that Martha Nelly was the best thing that ever happened to him (aside from MOLM) and that it was their 30-year partnership that had been the greatest contribution to extending his life and his talents to age 94. Together, they worked on numerous musicals and several new plays which can be found on his website, dalewasserman.com.
On December 21, 2008, Dale Wasserman, with his loving wife at his side, passed away peacefully of natural causes at his home in Paradise Valley, Arizona. Martha N. Wasserman is now the sole Owner/Licensor of Dale’s intellectual properties and spends her life promoting his works all over the world.
