Workshop: Commedia dell'Arte for teens

The workshop will be taught by Dylan Jones. Minimum number of participants is 8, maximum is 12. Age range is limited to 13-18.

This workshop, specifically for teens, aims at offering to its participants a first encounter with Commedia dell'Arte. We will be working with masks, expressions, and the physical representation of archetypes. Once the basics of these archetypes is understood and assimilated, we can move on to the second phase which is to improvise simple everyday situations within the frames of clear canvases. Before you know it, you'll be experiencing comical scenes depicting humanity in all its variety, for the pleasure of actors and audience. In a nutshell, a refreshing workshop laying the groundwork for future acting, with or without masks!

Dylan Jones (1971), French-British, graduated from drama school, specialised in acting and stage directing, in 1991. From 1991 to 1999 he worked as an actor, stage director and playwright in France, covering classical, contemporary and Commedia dell'Arte theatre, as well as film, TV and radio. In 1999 he switched to video editing and carried on (co-)writing and producing plays on the side.

Please wear loose, comfortable clothing and contact lenses instead of glasses, if you have them.  If there's not space in the workshop you might want to consider dropping by before it starts to see if someone couldn't come at the last minute.  You're welcome to take part if there's space!
