We invite all aspiring and experienced actors to join the wonderful workshop: The Actor’s Toolbox, by Madison Jolliffe on Saturday, June 3rd, from 12:00 to 15:00, at CREA, room 3.07, Nieuwe Achtergracht 170, 1018 WV Amsterdam.

Free for members of InPlayers (find information about membership options here: InPlayers Membership).

As an actor, your body is your instrument: there are many ways to play it. The Actor's Toolbox is a workshop that will provide actors with practical exercises and tools to reconfigure and expand the way they use their body and voice. This will allow them to more effectively play in rehearsals, bring a character to life, and be generous in any theatre-making processes they engage in. During our time together, we will also explore how to develop presence, through being grounded, deep listening, and following our impulses. Important rehearsal skills and techniques will also be developed during the workshop, including how to develop a personal warm up and how to hover. Actors of all levels can benefit from this workshop, but it is especially essential for those who have not yet engaged in training. Plus, it will be fun!

Madison (she/they) is a theatre-maker, teacher and activist from Canada, living in the Netherlands. They have been teaching theatre and musical theatre since 2013. Currently, they teach acting for The Cauldron in Amsterdam. Before that, they taught various acting workshops for Concordia University from 2019-2022, and musical theatre classes for The Segal Centre Academy from 2016-2020.

Madison is a co-founder of Utopia Syndicate, which is an Utrecht-based theatre collective that focuses on fostering hope through utopian speculation and prefigurative living. They also co-founded and directed Carleton Musical Theatre Society (Ottawa) in 2015, and Hey Lady! Productions (Montreal) in 2017. Madison holds a BFA in Performance Creation and an MA in Contemporary Theatre, Dance and Dramaturgy.
