InPlayers organise informal and free play readings regularly for its members and non-members. It’s the perfect to way to socialise with like-minded-theatre-loving people!
On Tuesday, July 9, from 18:30, we will get together to read several short plays, including two original plays by Jeremy Keighley.
Long serving In Players member, Jeremy Keighley, has been a performing poet for a long time. Over the last few years he has branched out into storytelling both in prose form and now in short play-scripts. He has a selection of two short plays that he would like to hear read out loud, to see how well they work and how they grab actors’ interest.
Sunday Morning, by Jeremy Keighley - A couple meet again after years apart. They are aware that nothing will ever be as simple as it once was and they see the changes and complications in relationships as you get older. Can you go back to the past, what has changed, what is still the same? And is there anything better than fresh coffee on a Sunday morning?
The Crematorium, by Jeremy Keighley - Andy takes his teenage step daughter to her estranged father’s funeral. There they meet a variety of colourful characters and confront aspects of their past, Francesca learns about her mother and her father and the distant past suddenly seems closer and perhaps more uncomfortable than either of them had expected.
Words, Words, Words, by David Ives - Three affable chimps are stuck in an experiment to test the "Infinite Monkey Theorem", the notion that a room full of typewriters and chimpanzees could eventually produce the complete text of Hamlet, if given an infinite amount of time. The monkeys discuss the futility of this endeavour and the purpose of this exercise while they type away.
Location: To be announced, Amsterdam
The play reading will be hosted by Ángela and the author, Jeremy.
