  • CREA - room 3.08 170 Nieuwe Achtergracht Amsterdam, NH, 1018 WV Netherlands (map)

InPlayers organise informal and free play readings regularly for its members and non-members. It’s the perfect to way to socialise with like-minded-theatre-loving people!

On Saturday, July 12th, from 11:00 am, we will get together to read Murder in the Cathedral by T.S. Eliot.

Location: CREA - room 3.08

T.S. Eliot is known for writing The Wasteland, widely regarded as one of the most important English-language poems of the 20th century. Virginia Woolf and her husband published this work and Virginia personally hand set the type for the book.

At this play reading, we will have a closer look at one of his other works: the play Murder in the Cathedral. It was written for the Canterbury festival and takes place in 1170, during the turbulent reign of Henry II. After the initial performance, the play continued to run and inspired films and operas.

The play reading will be hosted by Lydia Muijen. She wrote her master thesis at the University of Amsterdam on Chaucer and Cross Cultural Context in the Middles Ages.

It is a free event; no experience necessary; all ages welcome; but registration is required.
