Tennessee Williams’ Orpheus Descending is a play full of drama, tragedy, beauty, love and violence. Important Warning - it is set in a small town in the US South in the 1950s. Characters in the play use racist and discriminatory language. Tennessee Williams was always on the side of the underdog and the minority. He probably did not expect the audience to share the beliefs of these characters.
