Following our Theatre Directing workshop in May, we’re pleased to invite you to the next session with Jon Calado. This workshop will build on the ideas explored in May, while also welcoming anyone who is new to directing and would like to discover more about the role.

About the workshop
What does it really mean to be a theatre director? How do you interpret a script, shape a story, work with actors, and bring a production to life?
In this follow-up workshop, Jon will take us further into the world of theatre directing through discussion, examples
and shared ideas. We’ll explore the creative choices a director makes, how to communicate a vision, and how to collaborate with actors and the wider creative team.
If you joined us in May, this is a chance to continue developing your understanding of directing and take the next step.
If you didn’t attend the May workshop, you’re very welcome too! You don’t need any previous directing experience—just an interest in theatre and curiosity about what happens behind the scenes.
Whether you’re considering directing a show yourself, want to better understand the director’s role, or simply want to explore another side of theatre, this workshop offers a relaxed, supportive, and creative space to learn and experiment.

About the instructor
Jon Calado has worked as a director on many great plays, including The Odd Couple, The Surprise Guest (original title Les Belles Soeurs), It’s Raining Money (original title Comme s'il en Pleuvait), and The Portuguese Kid.
During the workshop, Jon will share his experience and insights into what it means to be a theatre director and guide participants through the creative process.
